The Aran Valley is not quite Spain, not quite France, but endowed with a strong Occitan identity this valley is unique ! The landscapes are sumptuous, the architecture and heritage have been preserved despite the strong urban pressure of the place.
We will make you discover the most beautiful snowshoe hikes that this valley has to offer.
Program :
Day 1 – Reception at your Hotel
Meeting at the end of the afternoon at your hotel located in the center of the village of Vielha, capital of the Aran Valley, it is also, for the Spanish Pyreneist, the " Chamonix of the Catalan Pyrenees.
Day 2 – Baciver Lakes
Departure from Pla de Beret towards the Baciver lakes.
The ascent in the middle of the glacial locks, will not leave you indifferent, the beautiful granite slabs where the mountain pines nest there offer you a spectacular landscape all along this ascent which leads us to the Baciver circus.
Walking time: about 5 hours.
Positive elevation: + 450 m.
Day 3 - Vall de Tredos and Colomers
Departing from the Tredos valley, we go up the valley and the large Aiguamog plateau on snowshoes, dotted with pines and clearings. These landscapes look like the “Canadian Rockies” ; we then arrive on the famous circus of Colomers and its innumerable lakes.
Walking time: about 5 hours.
Positive elevation: + 600m.
Day 4 – Tuc de Pedescau
Departing from Pla de Beret, climbed by the Obaga de Gessa, a large open valley, we will reach a pretty pass which invites you to contemplate the Maladetta massif, a last effort to reach Tuc de Pedescau (2 418 m)… 360° panorama of the great peaks of the Ariège, on the Encantats and on the Aneto...
Walking time: about 5 hours.
Positive elevation: + 570 m.
Day 5 – Col de Barrège
Short transfer to arrive at the Col du Portillon, you go up by the track of the climb to the summer pastures. From the pass, a huge panorama opens up over the chain of Maladeta and the 3000 of Luchonnais. Snack break and descent through the forest.
Walking time: about 5 hours

Day 6 – Village of Montgarri
We take an easy path to small village of Montgarri. This ancient isolated village far from everything is now abandoned, only the church and its presbytery remain (transformed into a refuge)
Walking time: about 4 hours.
Positive elevation: + 250m.

Level :
There are 5 days of walking without any other porterage than the business of the day. The circuit takes place on an almost entirely marked route, and always on well-marked paths.
Do not rely on the times indicated. Indeed, depending on the level(s) of group(s), we can shorten or lengthen the routes.
Walking times vary from 4 to 6 hours depending on your pace.
Framing :
By qualified mountain guides who know the country and its history perfectly.
Accommodation :
5 nights In a 3-star hotel, in a double room with private bathrooms.
food and water :
For drinks, you have the contents of your water bottle. Remember to fill it every morning before leaving. Otherwise, you can buy mineral water in your accommodations
. Do not drink spring water, it may be unfit for consumption.
Dinners and breakfasts :
They are taken from accommodation. They are plentiful. These are most often typical Spanish meals, consisting of a starter, a main course (meat or fish + starches + cooked vegetables), and a dessert.
In Spain, drinks (wine, mineral water) are often included in the menus, this information will be mentioned on your reservation.
Lunches: are to be prepared by you (many supermarkets)

Supervision by one or more mountain guide(s), knowing the country perfectly.
Accommodation in a double room in a comfortable 3-star hotel
Stay in half board from the evening meal of the 1st day to the breakfast of the 6th day
Wine included with the evening meal.
He does not understand : insurance, personal expenses (drinks, etc.).

Also excluded is transport to get to the meeting point. In addition, supplements due to a major modification of the program are the responsibility of the customer whose prior agreement will, of course, have been requested.
